That’s a wrap … The opening round of the 2023 draft came to a close just a few minutes ago when the Kansas City Chiefs selected Kansas State DE Felix Anudike-Uzomah with the 31st and final pick of the night. However, there won’t be much rest for NFL personnel people as teams will be burning the midnight oil re-stacking their boards and resetting priorities prior to the start of the second round, which gets underway at 7 PM ET Friday evening with Pittsburgh on the clock with the 32nd pick overall. The busiest team on the second night, though, at least barring further trades, look to be Arizona which has 4 picks over the 2nd and 3rd rounds, while Detroit has three in the second round, and Chicago, Green Bay, Las Vegas, Pittsburgh, Seattle and San Francisco each have 3 picks over the course of Friday night. At the same time, a number of teams including Denver, Cleveland, Miami, San Francisco, and the LA Rams will make their first appearance of the 2023 draft on Friday evening. In fact, the 49ers, Dolphins, Browns and Broncos won’t be making their first picks until the 3rd round. Here is the updated selection order for the 2023 draft, as well as the current picks by team file.
And there are still a lot of really talented prospects on the board. Indeed, arguably the story of the 1st round was the number of highly rated prospects who were selected Thursday night including QBs Will Levis and Hendon Hooker, along with ER Nolan Smith, CB Joey Porter,TE Michael Mayer and S Brian Branch. Meanwhile, other top rated prospects still on the board include RB Zach Charbonnet; WRs Jalin Hyatt, Josh Downs, Marvin Mims, Tank Dell and Jonathan Mingo; TEs Darnell Washington, Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft; OTs Dawand Jones, Cody Mauch, Jaelyn Duncan and Matt Bergeron; OG O’Cyrus Torrence; Cs John Michael Schmitz and Joe Tippmann; DEs Keion White, Isaiah Foskey, Derick Hall and BJ Ojulari; DTs Keeanu Benton, and Ade Adebawore; LBs Drew Sanders, Trent Simpson, and Daiyan Henley; CBs Kelee Ringo, Cam Smith, Darius Rush, and DJ Turner.
