2016 GBN Big Board tweaked

April 7, 2016

With just a month to go before the start of the 2016 draft, the GBN Big Board has been updated. (Note, we’ll be posting our final, or at least as final as it gets, 300+ Big Board on Monday April 25th.) A couple of interesting notes re the way this month’s draft appears to be shaping up. As it has been for weeks, the top 9-10 prospects for this month’s draft appear to be pretty much set. The one possible exception in that top group is Notre Dame OT Ronnie Stanley as there is some buzz that he could be slipping because of concerns about his conditioning and work ethic. On the other hand, the second ten appears to be something of a jumble with as many as a dozen or so guys who could go almost anywhere from 10 to 25 on the 28th. Meanwhile, there are a number of other players generally considered to be late-first or early second day prospects who could surprise in the opening round including Indiana OT Jason Spriggs, who just may be the hottest prospect in the 2016 draft, as well as Notre Dame WR Will Fuller, TCU WR Josh Doctson, Houston CB Will Jackson, Alabama C Ryan Kelly and Mississippi State DT Chris Jones. At the same time, later round prospects who appear to be on the rise include UCLA OT Caleb Benenoch, arguably the quickest offensive lineman in the 2016 draft, along with safeties Karl Joseph of West Virginia and Florida’s Keanu Neal and OLBs Yannick Ngakoue of Maryland, Minnesota’s De’Vondre Campbell, Stephen Weathely of Vanderbilt and Elandon Roberts of Houston, each of whom can really move coming off the edge.
