While the offensive linemen go through their on-field drills, there counterparts on the defensive front are being measured. And a few early numbers have leaked out including the fact that Clemson DE/OLB Vic Beasley was bigger than expected as he weighed in at 246 pounds. There had been concerns that Beasley might not crack the 230 mark. On the other hand, Nebraska’s Randy Gregory came in at a reed thin 235 pounds on an almost 6-5 frame. Gregory has said that he could play at 260-270, but at that current weight it is going to be tough to be graded as anything but a 3-4 OLB. At the same time, Florida’s Dante Fowler measured in at 6-2.5 and 261 pounds, the size that teams like Pittsburgh like their 3-4 OLBs, while Missouri’s Shane Ray came in about as expected at 6-2.4, 245. In other developments, Washington OLB Shaq Thompson will in fact work out with the RBs tomorrow; Thompson had said coming into Indy that he only wanted to d LB drills, but obviously had a change of heart. For the record, Alabama QB Blake sims will also do RB drills.
