We are closing in on Day Two of the NFL Draft. Don’t know why I felt I had to tell you that. If I did you probably are at the wrong website this evening.
Tonite is the when League teams finish off skimming the cream off the top of the prospect milk bottle. Bad k when I was a kid homogenized mike was not guaranteed to be available all the time. You had to shake the milk bottle (yes bottle) to mix the cream with the “water”. OK enough with the history lesson.
Because of a record number of “early” Compensatory Picks, Round 3 will stretch out to 107 Picks. My feeling has always been that unless you are drafting a player of the future, you should be picking starters in these first three rounds.
My Prospect list is a bit different from Colin our editor’s. So here are my top guys going into Pick 33 which the PACKERS currently hold. The number to the left of the name is my overall rank for the player.
5 JOE MIXON/RB
19 DALVIN COOK/RB
22 FORREST LAMP/OL
26 CURETIS SAMUEL/WR/RS
30 CAM ROBINSON/OT
34 DeSHONE KIZER/QB
35 DAN FEENEY/OG
36 ALVIN KAMARA/RB
38 OBI MELIFONWU/S
39 BUDDA BAKER/S
42 ZACH CUNINGHAM/LB
43 ZAY JONES/WR
44 JORDAN WILLIS/DE
45 RAEKWON McMILLAN/ILB
46 JUJU SMITH-SCHUSTER/WR
48 QUINCY WILSON/CB
49 KEVIN KING/CB
50 DION DAWKINS/OG
I am still most anxious to see which team hits the jackpot by having the guts to bring MIXON into their locker room. I still consider him to be as good, perhaps better than, ADRIAN PETERSON. And Peterson is a child beater, which rates as even more heinous to me than punching a full grown woman.
And just as a curiosity, I wonder how many QB will go in the two rounds tonight. I could see another 4-5 being selected quite easily. On my list these are the next QB up, who may all go by the end of Round 3.
#34 DaSHONE KIZER/Notre Dame
#53 DAVIS WEBB/CAL
#82 BRAD KAAYA/MIMAI(F)
#100 NATHAN PETERMAN/PITT
#123 JOSH DOBBS/TENNESSEE
