Tigers’ QB moves to DB sooner rather than later … Former Auburn QB Nick Marshall’s move back to the corner came a whole lot sooner than expected. Marshall, who was invited to Mobile when it became apparent that Oregon QB Marcus Mariota was not not going to come, told reporters when he arrived that he would most likely be playing in the secondary once he gets to the NFL. Turns out the future is now as Marshall, who played CB as a freshman at Georgia before switching over to offense after transferring to Auburn, worked exclusively on the corner at the South’s practice on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Marshall’s spot at QB on the South roster will be filled by Brandon Bennett of Southeastern Louisiana
Eagles bolster scout staff with coaches … In a somewhat unusual lateral move of sorts, Philadelphia has moved DBs coach John Lovett and TEs Ted Williams to the scouting department. Lovett is being replaced as the team’s DBs coach by Cory Undlin who comes over from Denver, while Williams is being replaced by his assistant, former NFL TE Justin Peelle. The moves come in the wake of head coach Chip Kelly taking over control of the Eagles’ roster.
