FCS draft spotlight

FCS in draft spotlight … These are heady times for FCS football. North Dakota State just posted one of the lower levels biggest upsets of all when the Bisons knocked off 13th ranked Iowa on Saturday. As a result, ND State, the 5-time defending FCS national champions came within just a few votes of being included in the FBS Top-25 national rankings. In the end, the Bisons ended up 28th. This all comes on the heels of former North Dakota State QB Carson Wentz being taken selected second overall by Philadelphia at the 2016 draft. Of course, the fact that Wentz has led the Eagles to impressive back-to-back wins to start the season is just icing on the FCS cake! All that said, its highly unlikely that any FCS player gets selected anywhere nearly as early as Wentz did last spring; in fact, it is very possible that no FCS player is even selected within the first three rounds. Still, there are some very intriguing lower level prospects for the 2017 draft. Here’s a quick profile of some of the better FCS candidates for the upcoming draft.
