WVU WR Simms enters supp draft

WVU WR Simms first to enter supp draft … Former West Virginia WR Marcus Simms is the first player identified who has reportedly applied to the NFL for inclusion in the league’s annual summer supplemental draft. Simms had actually originally entered the NCAA transfer portal earlier this spring, but might not have been able to play immediately this fall because of an alleged violation of West Virginia’s student code of conduct that would have affected his eligibility since transfers still need to be in good academic standing. It does not appear that a date has been set for this year’s supplemental draft, but it is usually held during the second week of July. Unlike the regular draft, teams bid on players based on which round they would take that player in the regular draft. If a team picks a player, it forfeits its pick from the corresponding round the following year.
