Weekly prospects preview

November 2, 2018

Weekly prospects preview … Hope nobody has plans for tomorrow as we have one of the best weekends of the year on the college football schedule. Headlining this week’s docket are a pair of what are in essence divisional championship games in the SEC as #1 Alabama plays at LSU for the SEC West lead, while #6 Georgia plays at #9 Kentucky (yes, we are talking football not basketball!!!) for the inside track in the East race. Elsewhere, #12 West Virginia plays at #15 Texas with a spot in the BIG XII conference title game very much on the line, while Michigan’s hold on the BIG TEN lead will be tested when the 5th ranked Wolverines host #14 Penn State. Needless to say, each of these games are littered with top prospects for the 2019 draft. In fact, the Alabama-LSU match-up may have as many leading prospects as any game on this season’s schedule; here’s a quick preview of the players to watch when the Tide play the Bayou Tigers. At the same time, GBN Associate Editor Pigskin Paul Guillemette has the other games covered in his weekly prospects preview column. Couple of other games to take note. Unbeaten Notre Dame, which is currently sitting in one of the four CFP championship playoff spots, puts its national title hopes on the line when the Irish play at Northwestern (ESPN; 7:15 PM ET) in one of those games that is always tough to win. Meanwhile, NFL teams looking to upgrade their pass rush will be checking in on the Bulldog Bowl between Louisiana Tech and Mississippi State (SEC Network/SEC; 8 PM ET). Not that it will necessarily be that great game of a game, but each team has one of the best pass rushers in the country in LA Tech DE Jaylon Ferguson (#45, 6-4, 260) who currently leads the nation with 10.5 sacks, while the Mississippi State pass rush is lead by Montez Sweat (#9, 6-3, 245), who has been unblockable at times this fall. Have a great weekend!
