USC WR Lemon posts pro day 40 time; sets 30 visits … All 32 NFL teams were represented at the Southern California pro day earlier today where star WR Makai Lemon, a top 10-15 prospect for the upcoming draft, was the primary attraction. Lemon, who did not run at last month’s combine, did run the 40 today, although its been tough pinning down an exact time. The school posted an ‘official’ clocking of 4.46 seconds, but earlier reports from the field indicated that teams had timed him more in the 4.48-4.53 range. Figure the latter is probably reasonably close; no one expected Lemon to run a sub-4.4 as he’s known more for his quickness and routes. And that time puts him in the same general ballpark as Ohio State’s Carnell Tate, the other top receiver in this year’s draft class. Perhaps of more significance, Lemon indicated he has a half dozen or so ’30’ visits scheduled later this month including at Tennessee, Cleveland, Washington, New Orleans, Miami and the LA Rams. For the record, those are teams with the 4th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 11th and 13th picks respectively in this year’s opening round. As we have noted in the past, that’s a pretty good indication of the range Lemon’s likely to be selected in. Indeed, maybe the only surprise there is that Kansas City, which has the 9th pick overall and is thought to be looking for some improved targets for Patrick Mahomes, isn’t yet on his visit list.

Meanwhile, along with Lemon, a couple of other USC prospects who didn’t run in Indianapolis did workout today in TE Lake McCree, who posted a 4.73 clocking, and LB Eric Gentry who clocked in at 4.54, while over at Oklahoma RB Jadyn Ott, who was not invited to the combine at all after barely playing for the Sooners this past season, posted a solid 4.46 40 clocking according to the official results posted by the school.
