USC pro day update

March 21, 2018

Guess who’s coming to dinner at USC pro day … Still waiting for QB Sam Darnold to take to the field for his passing drills at the Southern Cal pro day, but we are starting to get a head count of who is in L.A. to see his workout. Not surprisingly, Cleveland, which has the #1 pick and are generally considered to be the most likely landing spot for Danold are out in force with a big comntingent led by G.M. John Dorsey and head coach Hue Jackson. However, it appears that even Browns’ owner Jimmy Haslam is along on the trip which just reinforces the team’s interest. At the same time, the Giants, who have the second pick this year, also have have a decent sized group led by head coach Pat Shumer, while the other New York team, which moved up from the 6th to the 3rd spot in the draft ostenisbly to target a QB, are there with G.M. Mike Maccagnan and head coach Todd Bowles. And Denver G.M. John Elway and head coach Vance Joseph are there continuing their magical mystery QB tour after attending the pro days of Josh Rosen and Baker Mayfield of UCLA and Oklahoma respectively last week. Other G.M.s who have been spotted in the crowd at the USC pro day include Marty Hurney of Carolina, John Schneider of Seattle and Jon Robinson of Tennessee who is there with head coach Mike Vrabel. Meanwhile, Buffalo is represented by director of college scouting Terrance Gray, while Arizona has QB-coach Byron Leftwich on the scene, as are both LA Charger co-ordinators.
