Underclass list released

January 20, 2023

Underclass list released … The NFL released the formal list of underclassmen eligible to enter the 2023 draft earlier today There are a total of 82 players on the list including 69 who needed special permission to enter the upcoming draft and 13 who didn’t. That total though in fact is well below those in the past couple of years when 100 and 98 redshirt sophomores and 3rd and 4th year juniors were granted entry to the 2022 and 2021 drafts respectively. What is also a little different this year is that in the past, a number of very obscure players would appear on the final list whereas this year there is only one. And that’s Calgary DT J-Min Pelley, who played only one year for the Dinos back in 2019, but received a special exemption to enter a CFL supplemental draft last spring and ended up playing for Edmonton in the Canadian league this season. With Edmonton, Pelley only managed 11 tackles this fall, but he’s a huge guy at 6-5, 350 which might draw some interest from NFL teams.
