Tua to throw before draft … The agent for Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa reported in an interview earlier this week that he expects Tua to be able to participate in a throwing workout for prospective NFL teams sometime before the draft. Leigh Steinberg was also quoted as saying that Tagovailoa definititely wouldn’t be participating in next month’s combine, but will throw either at Alabama’s pro day in March or at a private workout closer to the draft. Tagovailoa had been considered to be a lock to be one of the first 2-3 players off the board at the upcoming draft before suffering a season-ending dislocated hip that required surgery in October. Clearly, if Tagovailoa is able to workout, especially if he puts on a show, then that could go a long way to alleviating some of the durability questions about his status and very likely get him back in the top 5 discussion heading into the first day of the upcoming draft. Indeed, with LSU QB Joe Burrow and Ohio State DE Chase Young expected to be selected with the first two picks, and with no other QB apparently any where near close to the same class, figure that Tagovailoa should be very much in play when Detroit gets on the clock with the 3rd pick with a bunch of QB needy teams picking later in the top ten. Stay tuned!
