Top of board gets cloudier

April 12, 2022

Is the top of board getting cloudier??? … In response to a number of queries and comments, yes it is very quiet around the NFL these days which is kind of unusual 16 days out from the start of a draft. That of course is a change from earlier in the process when it seemed like all heck was breaking out just about everyday.  And with just over two weeks to go until the first picks coming off the board, there really isn’t much clarity as to how the first several picks are going to go. One would have thought, for example, that Michigan DE Aidan Hutchinson would be kind of a no-brainer for Jacksonville with the first pick overall. But the Jags refused to rule out either of OTs Evan Neal of Alabama or NC State’s Ickey Ekwonu. And now there are some whispers that the Jaguars could be taking a hard look at Georgia DE Travon Walker at that #1 spot. Walker was never as productive as Hutchinson in college, but is a much better athlete with potentially a higher ceiling. Of course, nobody would be happier if Jacksonville passed on Hutchinson than Detroit which would love to get the home-town star with the 2nd pick. Stay tuned! We’ll find out soon enough!
