Top CFL QB on NFL tour … Calgary QB Bo Levi Mitchell, the CFL’s reigning MVP, worked out for Denver earlier this week after visiting with the Vikings late last week in Minnesota. Mitchell, who officially becomes a free agent in September, reportedly has at least 3 other visits or workouts already scheduled, while he has also reportedly been in touch with as many as ten other teams. Mitchell is a graduate of Eastern Washington where he was an FCS All-American, spending the first two two years of his collegiate career at Southern Methodist. Despite a decent college resume, Mitchell wasn’t drafted and signed almost immediately with Calgary where he assumed the starter’s role in 2014. In his 6 years as starter with the Stampeders threw for over 5,000 yards twice and was named CFL MVP twice. Overall, Mitchell completed 65% of his pass attempts with Calgary including 150 for TDs against 59 picks. Its not likely any NFL team is going to drastically alter their draft plans if they were able to sign Mitchell, but he may be an option for teams that aren’t sure they will be able to upgrade their QB situation through the 2019 draft.
