Titans head says team won’t pass on generational talent … Some interesting comments today from Chad Brinker, Tennessee’s head of football operations re the #1 pick at the 2025 draft. What has grabbed the headlines is Brinker saying: “As far as that Number 1 pick, you can’t pass up on a generational talent. We won’t do that.” The Titans have generally been expected to take a QB, most likely Miami’s Cam Ward with the first pick overall this coming April and Brinker’s words should probably be translated to they won’t pass on a generational talent to take a QB just for the sake of taking one!
However, read a little deeper into the interview where Brinker also says: “But we also have to look at all the options available to us there as well, because we want to build this team for the long term. I’d love to have 30 picks over the next three years, and 12 of those picks come from the top 100. That would be ideal. That’s how you flip your roster, that’s how you get youth on your roster.” Then more specifically about the QB situation he added: “You don’t always get the generational talent at quarterback right off the bat. That doesn’t mean we’re not going to try. We’re going to do everything we can. We’re going to look at every avenue.” Of course, we are very much into smoke and mirrors season and one never wants to over analyze what any NFL GM says in public, but Brinker certainly sounds like someone who would at least consider trading down for more picks and addressing the QB position in other ways or even down the road. Buckle up, we’re just getting started!
