Tide miss bowl wake up call … This afternoon’s ReliaQuest Bowl match-up between Alabama and Michigan was supposed to be a one-sided affair with the Tide coming in still smarting after being the last team out in the CFP playoffs and with all their big-name prospects including QB Jalen Milroe in uniform, while Michigan was fielding something of a B-team as all the Wolverines’ top players had opted out. Instead it was Michigan that came out all fired, while Alabama was sluggish at best. It was a particularly disappointing for Milroe, the #3 ranked QB in the 2025 draft class, who was hoping to launch a bid for a first-round selection with a big day against the short-handed Michigan defence, but instead looked more a possible late rounder or undrafted free agent. Milroe turned the ball over on Alabama’s first three possession each of which led to a Michigan score. Milroe did calm down somewhat after that, but still looked more like a good athlete playing QB than a poised passer with too many errant passes along with some very indecisive decision-making in the pocket. On the day, Milroe completed just 16 of 32 passes for 190 yards and a score. In the end, the kind of game that might have one thinking about maybe going back to school. Time will tell!
