The Sanders spill a few draft tea leaves … Several comments by Deion and Shedeur Sanders in recent days may have left some potential draft related hints. Shedeur, the QB, indicated, for example, that he would be perfectly fine not being the #1 pick at the overall draft, while dad deion said he expects Shedeur to be selected no later than the 2nd or 3rd picks. That suggests that the Sanders themselves are assuming that Miami QB Cam Ward will be the first player taken this coming April. And they may not have that big a deal with that because Shedeur is actually good friends with Ward whom he trains with under the same QB coach in Dallas these days.
At the same time, Deion reported that he has talked a length with officials from both Cleveland and the NY Giants, the teams which have those 2nd and 3rd picks respectively. When asked about some earlier comments about teams that he would not let Shedeur play for, Sanders, the elder, said there were in fact teams that fell into that category, but that he had spoken to those teams privately and declined to talk further about them. That’s revealing in that it has been speculated that if there were indeed teams that Deion would object to Shedeur being drafted by, Cleveland would very likely be at the top of that list. However, it seems from these comments that the Sanders would be comfortable with Shedeur playing in Cleveland, which presumably makes him a greater possibility at the second pick, although the Browns still have other problems at the position with the situation with DeShaun Watson and his injury and enormous cap hit.
