That’s a wrap: day one

April 28, 2022

That’s a wrap … The opening round of the 2022 draft came to a close just a few minutes ago when the Minnesota Vikings selected former Georgia S Lewis Cine with the 32nd and last pick of the night that was acquired during the evening from Detroit, but which actually originally belonged to the Super Bowl champion LA Rams. However, there won’t be much rest for NFL personnel people as teams still have to restack their boards and priorities prior to the start of the second round, which gets underway at 7 PM ET Friday evening with Tampa Bay on the clock with the 33rd pick overall. The busiest teams on the second night, though, at least barring further trades, look to be Atlanta, Green Bay, Kansas City and Tennessee, each of which has 4 picks on Friday night. At the same time, a record 10 teams, including Arizona, Chicago, Denver, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Miami, San Francisco, Tampa Bay, the LA Rams and home-town Las Vegas which will make their first appearance of the 2022 draft on Friday evening. Here is the updated selection order for the 2022 draft, as well as the current picks by team file.

And there are still a lot of really talented prospects on the board. Indeed, the story of the first round may have been that only one QB – Kenny Pickett to Pittsburgh – was selected in the opening round. That means Liberty QB Malik Willis, who was being mentioned as a possible pick as high as #2 to Detroit, along with Desmond Ridder, Matt Corral and Sam Howell.  are all still available as are RBs Breece Hall, Kenny Walker and Isaiah Spiller; WRs Christian Watson, Skyy Moore, and George Pickens; OTs, Bernhard Raimann, Abe Lucas, and Nicholas Petit-Frere; DE/ERs David Ojabo, Boye Mafe, Arnold Ebiketie, and Logan Hall; DTs Travis Jones and Perrion Winfrey; ILBs Nakobe Dean, Christian Harris and Leo Chenal; OLBs Nik Bonitto and Drake Jackson; and CBs Andrew Booth, Kyler Gordon and Roger McCreary. Here is the full, updated GBN Big Board ranking of the top remaining undrafted players for Friday evening’s second and third rounds.
