Texans reiterate commitment to QB Watson, or not!

Texans reaffirm commitment to QB Watson, or not! … Speaking at the team’s annual start of the new football year press conference, new Houston head coach David Culley stated rather emphatically that the Texans are committed to going foward with DeShaun Watson at QB. Said Culley: “We are very committed to Deshaun as our quarterback. He is our quarterback. He’s the only guy we got under contract at this time, right now.” For those that have been out of the universe of late, Watson reportedly requested the team deal him less than 6 months after signing a record 4Y, $156M contract extension as he was reportedly very  unhappy with the process used by the team to hire new G.M. Nick Caserio back in January. So there! However, during another interview on a local podcast, Culley reported implied a somewhat different stance saying that the Texans didn’t want a franchise quarterback who doesn’t want to be there. “We want guys who are all in” added Culley, which doesn’t sound like Watson these days as he has let it be known through intermediaries that he will never play in Houston again. Needless to say that if the Texans do ultimately move Watson, and its hard to see that they have many other options other than just being obstinate, it will really shake up the 2021 draft. Stay tuned!
