Teaxns lose 5th for Watson related cap violation … The NFL announced earlier today that Houston will forfeit a 5th round pick at the 2023 draft as well as pay a $175K fine for a salary-cap reporting violation involving former QB Deshaun Watson. For the record, the forfeited pick will be the Texans’ own pick – the 2nd overall in the 5th round. The NFL determined that the Texans provided Watson with previously undisclosed compensation when they provided him with a membership at an alternative athletic facility during the COVID in 2020. Despite the loss of the pick, the Texans will still have 10 picks in this year’s draft tied for the league lead in the category.
