USC QB Williams heads GBN All-America team … With the college football regular season in the books, the GBN senior staff put their heads together and came with up our annual All-America team as well as our nods to who we fell should win this year’s major awards. And the big winner was Southern California 2nd-year sophomore Caleb Williams, the unanimous choice as first-team All-America QB as well as our unanimous choice for the Heisman Trophy. At the same time, Alabama QB Bryce Young, last year’s Heisman winner, got our nod as 2nd team QB, while versatile Max Duggan of TCU who has his Horned Frogs within a game of their first CFP playoff berth, was the 3rd team QB. No surprise, though, that top ranked Georgia led all teams with three first teamers including DT Jalen Carter and a pair of offensive linemen – OT Broderick Jones and C Sedrick Van Pran. Alabama also had a couple of first teamers in star DE Will Anderson and safety Brian Branch, while Notre Dame (TE Mike Mayer and DE Isaiah Foskey) and Oregon (LB Noah Sewell and CB Christian Gonzalez), also had two nominees to the first unit, as did Southern Cal as DT Tuli Tuipulotu joined QB Williams on the first team.
