Saturday morning football notes

November 2, 2024

Saturday morning college football notes … While we wait for the kick-off for today’s big game between #3 Penn State and #4 Ohio State which gets underway in less than three hours as we speak, a couple of other notes from college football. Michigan CB Will Johnson, one of the top prospects overall for the 2025 draft, remains out and will not play today when the Wolverines host #1 Oregon. Johnson has been sidelined the past 2 weeks with an undisclosed ‘lower-leg’ injury and all the school is saying at this time is that they ‘hope’ to have him back at some point later in the campaign. On the other hand, Indiana QB Kurtis Rourke will be back later this afternoon when the unbeaten Hoosiers play at Michigan State. Rourke, one of the top passers in college football who is something of a draft riser, missed last week’s game with a thumb injury. And speaking of college QBs and the draft, this year’s prospects on national TV later today include Miami’s Cam Ward who’s Canes host Duke at Noon ET on ABC; Jaxson Dart of Mississippi when the Rebels play at Arkansas also at Noon on ESPN; and Georgia’s Carson Beck when the Dawgs face Florida at 3:30 PM on ABC in their annual shoot-out. And lastly, Boise State, the front-runner for this year’s Heisman Trophy piled up another 149 yards and 2 TDs in a 56-24 win over San Diego State last evening. That gives Jeanty 1525 yards and 20 TDs through the Broncos first 8 games and leaves him on pace to total over 2,200 yards on the season as he is averaging almost 8.5 yards per carry. For those that haven’t seen Jeanty play this fall they should get the chance next week as BSU is scheduled to host Nevada on Fox, although the time is still to be determined. Have a great day!!
