Raiders bench QB Carr

December 28, 2022

Raiders bench QB Carr … It appears that in fact the Derek Carr era in Las Vegas is over as the Raiders announced today that the veteran willnot be the starter for the rest of the season. The Raiders did not indicate what their future plans are for Carr but it now appears likely that they will move on at the position at the end of the year and possibly look to select a replacement at the 2023 draft. Carr has thrown for over 3,500 yards and 24 scores so far this fall, but has completed only 61% of his passes and has 14 picks, including 9 in the past 5 weeks. It also may be the time for the Raiders to move on as Carr signed a 3-year, $123M contract last off-season, but it includes an out at the end of this season in which the Raiders can move on while incurring just a $5.6 million dead cap hit. The 6-9 Raiders currently have the 9th pick in the 2023 selection order which would put then in range to get one of the top QBs in this year’s draft, although they might be tempted to try and move up a little closer to the top of the board. And with so many teams out there likely looking for an upgrade at QB this off-season, one would think that the Raiders should get some trade offers for Carr. Stay tuned!
