Quintet returns to school

Quintet returns to school … Don’t have any hard facts, but one gets the feeling that a relatively large percentage of underclassmen thinking of entering the 2017 draft are opting to return to school. Today, for example, as many as 5 very good juniors indicated they will be returning for their senior campaigns next fall including Oregon OT Tyrell Crosby, Auburn PK Daniel Carlson and C Mason Cole, DT Maurice Hurst and OLB Mike McCray. Crosby was projected as a potential first-round pick prior to the start of the season but barely played this year after breaking his foot in mid-September; in fact, Crosby could actually get the year back and still have 2 years of eligibility left. Meanwhile, Cole, one of the top centers in the country, also had at least some opening round potential, while Carlson was considered to be the top PK available in this year’s draft class.
