Prospects Game Preview. Week 7

October 12, 2018

Sat Oct. 13th 3:30/ET CBS
GEORGIA 6-0 by 4 @ L.S.U. 5-1
Bad news for LSU fans, but coming off a disappointing road loss to Florida, they return home to face the undefeated Bulldogs. And it looks for all the world to me that LSU will come out of this with a two game losing streak under their belts. UGA is averaging over over 40 points/game, with their lowest score of the season being 38 points over Tennessee. Just as impressively the Bulldogs D has given up over 20 points only once, against Missouri. I just don’t see how LSU finds the juice to win this one, but they will keep it tight if their D holds up at home.

WASHINGTON (5-1) BY 5 @ OREGON (4-1)
This may be the match-up of the weekend. The winner will clearly be the favorite to capture the PAC-12 North. The Huskies Offense has been held in check pretty much by the two teams with tough defenses (Auburn/Utah) on their schedule. The Ducks have the PAC-12’s top QB in JUSTIN HERBERT. Can the Ducks play a full 60-minutes on both sides of the ball, or will they falter late, as they did at home to Stanford? I like the Huskies based primarily on their defensive edge, but not by a lot.
Huskies prospects to watch include:
#3 JAKE BROWNING QB 6’2/205
#9 MYLES GASKIN RB 5’10/190*
#58 KALEB McGARY OT 6’8/325

#97 JALEN JELKS DE/ER 6’6/245*

Sat Oct. 13th 7:30/ET ABC
WISCONSIN (4-1) @ MICHIGAN (5-1) by 4
This game could in essence determine which team is second best in the Big Ten after Ohio State, although Penn State may have something to say about that later on. Michigan’s loss to Notre Dame may in the end help the Wolverines if the Irish continue to win.The Michigan Defense is highly ranked nationally and is likely to be tough for the UW Offense to crack. The Badgers D has not been as dominant this year as last. So I will take the Wolverines at home for this contest.
Badgers prospects to watch:
#66 BEAU BENZSCHAWEL OG 6’6/320 *
#79 DAVID EDWARDS OT 6’7/320* JR

SAT OCT. 13 10:30PM/ET FS1
COLORADO (5-0) @ SOUTHERN CAL (3-2) by 6
It is time for the Trojans to grow up and make a run for the PAC-12 South title. They are young and trying to pick up the pieces from the loss of SAM DARNOLD, but they play unbeaten Colorado this week and travel to play Utah next week. Colorado has been a pleasant surprise, but they have played the soft part of their schedule to date. Vet QB/STEVEN MONTEZ has been a true leader, and even though I am picking the Trojans I will not be surprised if the Buffaloes pull one out.
Colorado prospects include:
#34 TRAVON McMILLIAN RB 6’0/210
#33 JAVIER EDWARDS DT 6’3/320
#20 DREW LEWIS IB 6’2/225
#32 NICK GAMBOA LB 6’0/240
#6 EVAN WORTHINGTON SS 6’2/210

TROJAN prospects to watch:
#82 TYLER PETITE TE 6’4/250
#50 TOA LOBENDAHN OC 6’3/290
#77 CHRIS BROWN OG 6’5/310
#45 PORTER GUSTIN OB/ER 6’4/255* INJ
#35 CAMERON SMITH IB 6’2/240* INJ
#8 IMAN MARSHALL CB 6’1/205*
#7 MARVELL TELL FS 6’2/195*

Enjoy your watching and scouting folks.
