Power 5 conferences talk season

Power 5 conferences talk season … According to an ESPN report, the commissioners of the Power 5 football conferences held an emergency meeting earlier today to discuss the future of the 2020 season because of concerns about the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. As noted yesterday, the Big Ten in fact already appears ready to pull the plug on all fall sports including football and if the Big Ten goes, the other top conferences are almost sure to follow suit. Expect some kind of decision later this week. And that would be a tragedy for the sport as there are just so many really good players that were ready to take the field this fall. Indeed, we have just been putting the final touches of what would have been our annual list of top prospects which this year would have included the likes of QBs Trevor Lawrence of Clemson, Ohio State’s Justin Fields and Trey Lance of FCS North Dakota State; RBs Chuba Hubbard of Oklahoma State and Clemson’s Travis Etienne; WRs Ja’Marr Chase of LSU and Alabama’s Devonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle; OTs Penei Sewell and Walker Little of Stanford, Sam Cosmi of Texas and Dillon Radunz, yet another rising star from North Dakota State; OGs Alex Leatherwood of Alabama, Wyatt Davis of Ohio State, and Tennessee’s Trey Smith; Oklahoma C Creed Humphrey; DEs Greg Rousseau of Miami, Washington’s Joe Tyron and Carlos Basham of Wake Forest; Florida State DT Marvin Wilson; Alabama ILB Dylan Moses; OLBs Micah Parsons of Penn State, Oregon State’s Hamilcar Rashid and Chazz Surratt of North Carolina; and CBs Patrick Surtain of Alabama, Ohio State’s Shaun Wade, Paulson Adebo of Stanford and Virginia Tech’s Caleb Farley. Here’s the full list of preliminary prospects for the 2021 draft.
