Pats, Giants ‘battle’ for early pick … Okay, so its not quite Michigan-Ohio State or Philly-KC but Sunday’s game in New York between New England and the Giants could ultimately have a major impact on the how the early selection order for the 2024 ultimately plays out. Going into the week, the 2-8 Patriots would have the 3rd pick were the draft held this week, while the Giants sit 5th. And a loss in NY would likely lock New England into a top 2-3 pick next April, while the Giants would slip out of the top 5. On the other hand, a win by the Patriots and the chase for those very early picks really tightens up. In fact, there could some major shuffling in the early selection order as in addition to the Giants-Patriots, both Carolina and Arizona, which are currently sitting on the 1st and 2nd picks overall respectively, have potentially winnable games, although both are playing on the road this weekend. For example, Carolina whose own #1 pick is actually owned by Chicago will be at struggling Tennessee which actually sits 6th in the draft order, while Arizona will be at the 4-6 LA Rams. Meanwhile, Chicago, which would pick 4th with its own pick, will be at Minnesota Monday night.
