Pats, Falcons to coach Shrine game

Pats, Falcons to coach Shrine game … The NFL and the East-West Shrine Bowl have announced that staffs from New England and Atlanta will handle coaching duties at this   year’s game on February 2nd in Las Vegas. Of course, that represents a major change from past years when NFL teams supplied the coaches for the Senior Bowl. However, the NFL has decided to alternate years in which pro staffs handle each game. In addition, the two team’s head coaches – Bill Belichek and Arthur Smith – will act more as supervisers with younger staff handling the primary coaching duties. It should also be noted that this year’s Shrine game will be held in conjunction with the revamped Pro Bowl in Las Vegas and there are rumblings that the league would actually like to have the Shrine game replace the Senior Bowl as the primary all-star game and make it a permanent part of the Pro Bowl week. For the record, the coaches for this year’s Senior Bowl will be up and coming assistant coaches ‘nominated’ by the NFL.
