Other star week kicks off

January 10, 2016

‘Other’ star weeks kicks off … The major post-season all-star games do not get underway for another week, but this is a big week for second-tier prospects for the upcoming draft. For starters, the College Gridiron Showcase starts today in Bedford, Texas. This a four-day event running through the 13th in which players go through individual and team workouts; they also receive professional coaching, mentoring, life coaching and seminars that hopefully will benefit them as they move forward in their professional lives in or out of football. However, it does not appear that this year’s shwcase even has an actual game. Players in attendance at the showcase include QBs Chuckie Keeton of Utah State and 6-6 small-college star Liam Nadler of Gannon, RBs Paul James of Rutgers and Georgia’s Keith Marshall, DEs Ishaq Williams of Notre Dame and Cincinnati’s Silverberry Mouhon and Michigan CB Wayne Lyons. Here is the full list of 2016 prospects at the showcase. It also appears that there is a free-agent component to this event.  Then later this week, practices for the Dream Bowl all-star game for lower level prospects get underway in Virginia Beach with the actual game scheduled for noon on the 18th. After players arrive on the 14th, there will be a full day scouting combine type of event on Friday the 15th. Of note the combine will be run by long-time GBN friend Russ Lande, the Director of College Scouting for the CFL’s Montreal Alouettes. Here are the full rosters of the two Dream Bowl teams again featuring Gannon QB Liam Nadler.
