One top QB prospect returning; another leaning … The once very deep QB class for the 2023 draft keeps thinning out. And it just got a little thinner with word that Washington’s Michael Penix, one of the top passers in the country this past season and a rising prospect for the upcoming draft, will take advantage of the NCAA’s free year of eligibility and return to the Huskies next fall. Meanwhile, while there is no official confirmation, it is now widely believed that Clemson QB D.J. Uiagalelei will enter the transfer portal and play elsewhere in college next fall. Uiagalelei was benched for the third time this season in the Tigers’ ACC championship game win over North Carolina on the weekend and afterward Clemson coach Dabo Swinney confirmed that freshman Cade Klubnik would be the starter entering camp next fall. On the other hand, Florida SR O’Cyrus Torrence, the consensus top interior OL prospect for the upcoming draft with first-round potential, will be leaving school and entering the draft.
