One QB in draft, one out and other college comings and goings

One QB in draft, one out and other college comings and goings … No big surprise here as TCU QB Max Duggan has announced that he’ll be entering the 2023 draft despite having another year of college eligibility remaining. No surprise, too, that Duggan ain’t going anywhere before the Frogs New Year’s Date with Michigan in the Fiesta Bowl in one of the two national CFP semi-final games. Duggan, a dual-threat who was the Heisman runner-up this year, is considered to be a late second or early third day prospect for the upcoming draft. On the other hand, Oregon’s Bo Nix, who had started to generate a little late first round buzz, has announced that he’ll be returning to the Ducks next fall … At the same time, it appears that star Alabama-Birmingham RB DeWayne McBride has also decided to enter the draft. McBride, who ran for over 3,000 yards over the past two seasons, including over 1,700 this fall, opted out of the Blazers’ bowl on Friday at the last minute, although there still has been no official statement from the player … On the other hand, a couple of other promising 3rd year juniors have opted to stick with school for another year including Texas A&M LB Edgerrin Cooper and C Willie Lampkin, who is transferring from Coastal Carolina to North Carolina … And the expected exodus of players from Jackson State in the wake of former head coach Deion Sanders’ move to Colorado has begun. Both Shedeur and Shilo Sanders have entered the transfer portal and are expected to follow dad to Colorado. So is star freshman CB/WR Travis Hunter, who shocked the college football world last year when the #1 recruit in the country flipped off Florida State to sign with HBCU JSU. However, while Hunter, who won’t be draft eligible until 2025, is still expected to also follow Sanders to Colorado, he’ll almost assuredly get a number of very lucrative NIL offers to sign with one of the national powers … And finally, S Chris Smith, one of the mainstays of Georgia’s dominant defense, has been added to this year’s Senior Bowl roster … Have a great day!!!
