Winless Lions in tough facing old friends … Interesting day coming up tomorrow for Detroit, the NFL’s last remaining winless team who would have had the #1 overall if the 2022 draft were held last week. For starters, the 0-6 Lions are in tough this week as they have to play the 5-1 Rams in a late game in Los Angeles tomorrow afternoon. What makes the game interesting, of course, is that the Lions will be facing Matthew Stafford, their long-time QB whom they traded to the Rams in the off-season. Its also a homecoming for current Lions’ QB Jared Goff who went the other way in the Stafford deal. Houston, which would have had the 4th pick were the draft held last week, is also in tough this week as the Texans have to play at Arizona, the NFL’s last unbeaten team. At the same time, though, there are at least a couple of other games on this week’s docket that will shake up the current selection order for the upcoming draft. Miami, which currently sits on the second pick overall which they traded to Philadelphia, for example, will be home to 2-3 Atlanta in what has to considered a winnable game for the Dolphins. Meanwhile, the NY Jets will be at New England in a battle between AFC East rivals that would have had the 6th and 7th picks respectively were the draft held this week. Of course, that one will also feature a battle between rookie QBs Zack Wilson of the Jets and the Patriots Mac Jones. As usual, we’ll be updating the weekly selection order after the Monday night game.
