Jags to join Cowboys coaching at senior Bowl … For the 3rd year in a row, Jacksonville will be coaching one of the two teams at this year’s Senior Bowl. The Jaguars staff will join the Dallas staff in Mobile with the Cowboys under Jason Garrett to run the North team, while Gus Bradley and the Jags coaches will handle the South squad. The coaching staffs for the Senior Bowl have traditionally been from the teams with the highest picks with returning coaching staffs. Tennessee and Cleveland, which have the 1st and 2nd picks respectively, are both in the midst of coaching searches, while San Diego with the 3rd pick apparently declined. That left Dallas which will have the 4th pick this year and Jacksonville with the 5th as the top options. Meanwhile, with just over two weeks to go until Senior Bowl practices start, 7 more players have been added to the lineup including TCU RB Aaron Green, Michigan State WR Aaron Burbridge and DE Shilique Calhoun, Penn State DT Austin Johnson, safeties Tyvis Powell of Ohio State and West Virginia’s SS KJ Dillon, and Duke PK Ross Martin. Note that Johnson and Powell are technically juniors, but have been in school four years and have graduated so under revised Senior Bowl rules are now eligible. Expect another group of players to be announced next week, likely including seniors from Alabama. For now, here is the full list of players who have currently accepted invites to attend this year’s Senior Bowl which will be played on January 30th with practices to start on the 25th. Meanwhile, Michigan QB Rudock has been added to the East-West Shriners roster.
