Guess who’s coming to dinner … or more to the point ‘who’s coming to scout’ this weekend’s big college football games. Again, its hardly a perfect science, but it can give some early -season hints as to what certain teams are looking at with regards to the 2027 draft. For example, roughly half the league – 17 teams to be exact – are in Austin this evening to take in the Ohio State-Texas matchup. That includes Miami GM Jon-Eric Sullivan who is no doubt checking out QBs Arch Manning and Julian Sayin. Interestingly, there were actually two GMs – Arizona’s Monti Ossenfort and Ian Cunningham – in Stillwater earlier this afternoon for the Oregon-Oklahoma State battle in which the Cowboys, who lost to Tulsa last week, stunned the Ducks 39-31. Again, its not a bad assumption to figure both teams were looking at QBs Dante Moore and Drew Mestemaker. For the record, the Ducks’ Moore, who is generally considered to be the top prospect at the position for the upcoming draft, did not the best outing. He completed just 14 of 29 passes for less than 200 yards, although he did have a couple of TD passes with no turnovers. For his part, Mestemaker completed 26 of 43 passes for 317 yards and a couple of scores, but did have a couple of picks.
