Four more tags issued

Four more tags issued; Lions to let WR Golladay walk … With the deadline for NFL teams to designate free agents-to-be as either franchise or transition coming up in just over 90 minutes, four more players have tagged as franchise players including WRs Chris Godwin of Tampa Bay and Chicago’s Allen Robinson, along with OTs Cam Robinson of Jacksonville and Carolina’s Taylor Moton. That brings to nine, the number of players who have been franchised to date. Meanwhile, several other players who were thought to be franchise targets by their respective teams have been told they will not tagged including Detroit WR Kenny Golladay, New England OG Joe Thuney, Pittsburgh ER Bud Dupree, and LA Chargers TE Hunter Henry. All four will now become free agents when the new NFL year starts next week, assuming, of course, that don’t resign in the interim.

Perhaps the most interesting of all the franchise moves, at least from the perspective of the draft, is the fact Detroit did not tag Golladay. With Golladay now a free agent likely to sign elsewhere, Detroit now has major issues at WR and could look to address the position with the 7th pick in next month’s draft.
