Conflicting story on state of Foster shoulder surgery … There are conflicting stories on the condition of Alabama MLB Reuben Foster’s surgically repaired shoulder. ESPN had a report by Shane Alexander that Foster had not been given a clean bill of health at the medical re-checks conducted in Indianapolis last week for injured players and that it was possible that he would have to undergo a second surgery on his shoulder. It does not appear as if any other outlets have carried a similar report and Foster’s agent is disputing the claim. In fact, Foster has been something of a polarizing prospect this year. He was one of the most productive defensive players in the country in college football, but hasn’t been able to work out through the pre-draft process because of the shoulder. Then there was the combine where he weighed in at 230 pounds, about ten pounds less than teams were expecting and then was sent home from Indianapolis after getting into a spat with hospital staff at his original medical tests. That had analysts speculating that he might slide at next week’s draft, but of Foster’s 7 known pre-draft visits, 6 were with teams with picks in the top half of the opening round including the Jets and Baltimore, who pick 6th and 16th respectively, both of whom will have him in for visits this week. Needless to say we’ll find out for sure in ten days or so when the opening round of the 2017 draft gets underway on the 27th.
