FCS champs with star QB Lance and OT Radunz to play one game … Interesting storyline out of North Dakota State where the 14-time FCS champions have announced they will in fact play one game this fall when they host Central Arkansas on October 3rd. The Bison play in the Missouri Valley Conference which pushed its football season to the spring, but scheduled the one game to allow significantly more practice time. Teams that are not playing at all this fall are severely restricted in the amount of team activities that can be conducted, whereas teams that do have games scheduled are allowed to do much more, including holding full-pad practices. If the game with Central Arkansas does go ahead, it could give pro scouts at least one look at two of this year’s top prospects in NDSU QB Trey Lance and and OT Dillon Radunz, both of whom have early first-round potential. Lance, in particular, has pro scouts buzzing. He’s just a redshirt sophomore, but is coming off a remarkable freshman year in which he completed 67% of his pass attempts, including 28 for scores, while throwing 0 (not a misprint) interceptions. For good measure, the athletic 6-3, 225-pound Lance ran for 1,100 yards and another 14 TDs as he lead the Bison to a perfect 16-0 record and yet another national title. Of course, it is still possible that one, or both, choose not to play themselves this fall, while its also possible that one, or both, end up transferring to a conference that is playing a full fall schedule. Stay tuned!
