Let’s highlight another 4 teams and see how their Draft Picks and other Rookies stack up as values compared to my final prospect rankings.
BALTIMORE RAVENS 11 Picks, 4 RFA
Pick 14 KYLE HAMILTON S PP#9
Pick 25 TYLER LINDERBAUM OC PP#23
Pick 45 DAVID OJABO ER/OB PP#46
Pick 76 TRAVIS JONES DT PP#24
Pick 110 DANIEL FAALELE OT PP#76
Pick 119 JALYN ARMOUR-DAVIS CB PP#132
Pick 128 CHARLIE KOLAR TE PP#82
Pick 130 JORDAN STOUT P PP#158
Pick 139 ISAIH LIKELY TE PP#124
Pick 141 DAMARION WILLIAMS CB PP#241
Pick 196 TYLER BADIE RB PP#NR
RFA ANTHONY BROWN QB PP#NR
RFA DIEGO FAGOT LB PP#250+
RFA JEREMIAH MOON LB/ER PP#250+
RFA MAKAI POLK WR PP#250+
The RAVENS had double digit Picks and used them well overall. Having as many Picks as they did allowed them the luxury of taking OJABO in Round 2 and red-shirting him for 2022 with his torn achilles. He’s an eventual starter. They seem to have the best cohesion in their scouting department in the League. Some of that may be due t the longevity of the coaching staff. The scouts know what their coaches want in their players.
CINCINNATI BENGALS 6 Picks, 5 RFA
Pick 31 DAXTON HILL DB PP#33
Pick 60 CAM TAYLOR-BRITT CB PP#107
Pick 95 ZACHARY CARTER DL PP#125
Pick 136 CORDELL VOLSON OL PP#131
Pick 166 TYCEN ANDERSON S PP#129
Pick 252 JEFFREY GUNTER DE/ER PP#230
VFA CAL ADOMITIS LS PP#250+
VFA JAIVON HELEIGH WR PP#250+
VFA SHEMARI JONES RB PP#250+
VFA KWAMIE LASSITER WR PP#NR
VFA CARSON WELLS OB/ER PP#248
Some useful pick-ups like LS ADOMITIS, and all 3 of the DB they drafted. Only CARTER might have been a reach but not by much. Might have worked a bit harder to find a TE to replace UZOMAH though.
PITTSBURGH STEELERS 7 Picks, 5 RFA
Pick 20 KENNY PICKETT QB PP#26
Pick 52 GEORGE PICKENS WR PP#58
Pick 84 DeMARVIN LEAL DL PP#64
Pick 138 CALVIN AUSTIN WR/RS PP#75
Pick 208 CONNOR HEYWARD FB/H-B PP#185
Pick 225 MARK ROBINSON IB PP#NR
Pick 241 CHRIS OLADOKUN QB PP#NR
RFA MATEO DURANT RB PP#250+
RFA DONOAN JETER DT PP#NR
RFA TYREE JOHNSON ER/DE PP#143
RFA CHRIS STEELE CB PP#250+
RFA JAYLEN WARREN RB PP#250+
Their first 4 Picks all make sense, but starting with HEYWARD at Pick 208 it looked like the brass went home and let an intern make the Picks. They may get more from their RFA than their last 3 Picks. But overall this should help their depth chart, especially if PICKETT pans out. But I expect him to back up TRUBISKY this season.
BUFFALO BILLS Picks 8, RFA 4
Pick 23 KAIIR ELAM CB PP#20
Pick 63 JAMES COOK RB PP#72
Pick 89 TERREL BERNARD OB PP#111
Pick 148 KHALIL SHAKIR WR PP#79
Pick 180 MATT ARAIZA P/PK PP#140
Pick 185 CHRIS BENFORD CB PP#NR
Pick 209 LUKE TENUTA OT PP#250+
Pick 231 BAYLON SPECTOR LB PP#NR
RFA ALEC ANDERSON OT UCLA PP#NR
RFA RAHEEM BLACKSHEAR RB/RS PP#250+
RFA JA’MARCUS INGRAM CB PP#NR
RFA JALEN WYDERMYER TE PP#236
It’s easy to see how their Rookies all fit the BILLS overall roster scheme. They got immediate help, perhaps, from their first 5 Picks, followed by a group of guys, some of whom are likely to emerge with a year or two of development on their Practice Squad. This is how they have built themselves into almost everyone’s favorite to rule the AFC despite a powerful Western division. Especially, the JOSH ALLEN Pick of course.
I did get a couple of requests for other teams so we will carry on this theme for as long as the requests come in.
Cheers
