Couple more names for the guest list

Couple more names for the guest list … In yesterday’s article on unheralded players getting multiple on-site visits we missed one player who also should have been included and that’s UAB CB Starling Thomas. Thomas isn’t that tall or long at just a tad over 5-10 and 195 pounds, but he has track speed with a 100M PB of 10-4 from his high school days when he won a state championship; for the record, he also had a solid 37.5-inch vertical at his pro day. Thomas was a first team Conference USA pick this year when he was credited with 15 pass breakups, although opponents tended to stay away from his side of the field. He also had 30 tackles, but needs to be a little more aggressive and instinctive in run support. Thomas has visits with Indianapolis, Las Vegas, Minnesota, and the LA Chargers.

We would also be a little miss in not mentioning Mississippi WR Jonathan Mingo, who by our unofficial account, leads all non-first round prospects in total visits. Indeed, Mingo has up to 10 visits planned including stops at Arizona, Atlanta, Baltimore, Carolina, Chicago, Dallas, New England, San Francisco and Tennessee. And it shouldn’t be a big surprise as Mingo is an intriguing second-tier type receiver prospect who measures in at a solid 6-2, 220 and ran a solid 4.46 40 at the combine; this past season he averaged almost 17 yards per catch on 51 total grabs.

And just in case anyone missed it, Kentucky QB Will Levis worked out for the Indianapolis Colts, who have the 4th pick overall, yesterday. For the record, Levis had already visited Houston and Las Vegas and will visit Carolina and Tennessee next week. Maybe the only surprise there is that Seattle, which has the 5th pick, is not on the list. More to come.
