Comp picks announced; Cowboys lead with four … The NFL has just announced that a total of 36 compensatory draft selections have been awarded to 17 different teams for the upcoming draft, which we noted earlier today is now just 50 days away and counting. Dallas leads the way with four comp picks including one in each of rounds three through 6. At the same time, Atlanta, Green Bay, New Orleans and the LA Rams each have three compensatory picks, while Baltimore, Carolina, Chicago, Kansas City, Minnesota, New England, Philadelphia, and San Francisco have two each and Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay, Tennessee and the LA Chargers have one each. Compensatory draft selections are awarded to teams that lose more or better free agents than they acquire in the previous year are eligible to receive compensatory picks. As well, this year, a total of four comp picks were awarded to teams as part of the league’s new minority hiring initiative.
