more college injury notes

September 26, 2017

More college injury updates … LSU SS Ed Paris will miss the remainder of the season because of a knee injury. Paris, a late-round or free agent prospect, suffered the injury at practice last week and subsequently underwent surgery. Because he played in only three games and has never redshirted Paris would be eligible for a medical redshirt. Same for Arkansas WR Jared Cornelius, who thought about entering the 2017 draft before opting to return to school, but will miss the rest of the year after unfdergoing surgery to repair a torn Achilles’ tendon. Cornelius is another 4th year senior who likely would get a 5th year of eligibility if he applied to the NCAA for a medical redshirt. Washington junior WR Chico McClatcher will miss the rest of the season with a broken ankle. Same for Rutgers junior CB Blessaun Austin, who was thought to be a possible early entry candidate for the 2018 draft, is out for the season with an ACL tear that he incurred in Saturday’s loss against Nebraska. Same for Baylor junior DE Xavier Jones who broke his leg in Saturday’s loss to Oklahoma. At the same time, TCU junior CB Julius Lewis will miss the rest of the campaign with an undisclosed injury suffered in practice last week. TCU will also be without senior C/G Patrick Morris for the next 4-5 weeks with an undisclosed injury.
