College Game Previews Week 5

By | October 2, 2015

October is here and so is Week 5 of College Football Match-ups.

Saturday Noon ET ESPN

The Hawkeyes are unbeaten, but before you give them too much respect take a look at that schedule. The BADGERS opened with ‘BAMA and have been regrouping ever since. BUCKY has been beaten up, but that has allowed some younger guys the chance to get some serious playing time and most of them have come through just fine. If this game were in Iowa I would roll the dice, but playing in Mad Town I see the Badgers pulling one out. If Iowa wins mark them down as a serious surprise team not a fluke.
Prospects to watch:

#63 AUSTIN BLYTHE/C 6’3/290                    #34 DEREK WATT/FB 6’2/236

Saturday Noon ET FS1

This game could be the ‘sleeper’ game of the week as WVU has looked good so far going 3-0, but so have the Sooners and they have home field advantage. They also have dual threat transfer QB/BAKER MAYFIELD who seems to be improving with every game. The points may roll in this one, but both teams are seriously improved on Defense. Expect this to be really competitive, but home field rules the day. Watch out Sooners fans if this is a real close game. WVU has one of the best PK in the country in JOSH LAMBERT #86. He can boom them from 50+ yards out.
Prospects to watch:

WEST VIRGINIA                                               OKLAHOMA

#45 NICK KWIATOSKI/LB 6’2/236                 #19 ERIC STRIKER/LB 6’0/223
#78 MARQUIS LUCAS/OT 6’4/318                  #54 NILA KASITATI/OG 6’4/315
#91 NICK O’TOOLE/P 6’3/228                          #91 CHARLES TAPPER/DE 6’4/283

Saturday 3:30 ET ESPN2

Congrats to the Hoosiers on their 3-0 start, but let’s get real. They cannot keep up with the Buckeyes for 4 quarters. You’d expect IU to be hurting in the running game with the graduation of TEVIN COLEMAN but UAB transfer JORDEN HOWARD #8 is tearing it up and QB/NATE SUDFELD is back from injury. But the Buckeyes are loaded and once URBAN settles the QB unrest they should roll through the Big 10 schedule, starting here. Watch the individual match-up between OSU BOSA and Indiana OT SPRIGGS in this one.
Prospects to watch:

OHIO STATE                                                      INDIANA

#5 BRAXTON MILLER/WR 6’2/215                 #56 NICK MANGIERI/DE 6’5/275
#37 JOSHUA PERRY/OLB 6’4/254                   #78 JASON SPRIGGS/OT 6’7/305
#90 TOMMY SHUTT/DT 6’3/290                       #9 NATE SUDFELD/QB 6’6/240
#81 NICK VANNETT/TE 6’6/260
#97 JOEY BOSA/DE/6’3/275
#15 ZEKE ELLIOTT/RB/5’11, 225
#12 CARDALE JONES/QB/6’4/250

Saturday 7:30 ET SEC Network
State is a solid team and is off to a solid start with their very difficult schedule in play. They will score some, but PRESCOTT may turn it over a bit if the pass rush led by Soph MYLES GARRETT/#15 really gets cranked up for the Aggies. By the same token A&M QB/KYLE ALLEN will have to be careful against a very good State secondary. The score may be lower than expected with some important points being created by each team’s defense. The team with the fewest turnovers will likely rule the day… I mean night. Watch the match-ups between WR/REYNOLDS and the 2 Miss State Corners CALHOUN & REDMOND.
Prospects to watch:

MISSISSIPPI STATE                                             TEXAS A&M
#23 TAVEZE CALHOUN/CB 6’1/180                      #5 TRA CARSON/RB 6’0/235
#70 JUSTIN MALONE/OG 6’6/320                      #38 DREW KASER/P 6’3/215
#15 DAK PRESCOTT/QB 6’2/230                          #56 MIKE MATTHEWS/OC 6’2/290
#2 WILL REDMOND/CB 6’0/186                          #95 JULIEN OBIOHA/DE 6’4/280
#96 CHRIS JONES/DT/JR 6’5/308                       #11 JOSH REYNOLDS/WR/JR 6’4/195
