As we head all too quickly into the 2018 season Bowl Games, I want to say that I think the Selection Committee pretty much hit the nail on the head this time around. The only thing they might have done better was shock everyone and announce an 8 team field. But in their defense they do not have the power to do so.
First off here is my Top 15:
1) ALABAMA (13-0)
2) CLEMSON (13-0)
3) NOTRE DAME (12-0)
4) OKLAHOMA (12-1)
5) OHIO STATE (12-1)
6) GEORGIA (11-2)
7) UCF (12-0)
8) LSU (10-2)
9) MICHIGAN (10-2)
10) WASHINGTON STATE (10-2)
11) WASHINGTON STATE (10-3)
12) PENN STATE (9-3)
13) FRESNO STATE (11-2)
14) FLORIDA (9-3)
15) BUFFALO (11-2)
Now take a good look at my teams ranked 5-8. If the play-off/championship system had an 8 team field it would include all of the teams with a legit complaint about NOT being in the 4-team tournament by including those next 4 teams.
Then my match-ups would be ALABAMA/UCF, CLEMSON/LSU, NOTRE DAME/GEORGIA, OKLAHOMA/OHIO STATE.
My caveat to this proposal is that say Alabama made it to the Championship Game, it would be their 15th game of the season. Too many games my friends, these players supposedly have classes to attend at some point.
Cheers, and enjoy the Bowling for Dollars season.
