Cards lose late; drop to 4th; 5th up for grabs tonight

Cards lose late; drop to 4th; 5th pick still up for grabs tonight … Despite starting a 3rd string QB making his first career start against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in last night’s late game, Arizona had the Bucs on the ropes much of the night, but ultimately lost 19-16 in OT. That loss dropped the Cardinals record to 4-11 which moves them up into the 4th position in this week’s opening round selection order for the 2023 draft with just two games to go in the regular season behind Houston, Chicago and Seattle with Denver’s pick. However, the rest of the top ten and beyond won’t be determined until after tonight’s Monday nighter between Indianapolis and the LA Chargers. If the Colts lose, they will move into the #5 pick, followed by Atlanta at #6, Detroit at #7 with the LA Rams pick. On the other hand, with a Colts’ win, those latter three teams would move up one spot, while Indianapolis would drop to the 7th pick. As usual the full updated selection order if the draft were to be held this week will be updated after tonight’s game.
