Browns kick RGIII tires … Interesting story from Cleveland where the Browns had former Washington QB Robert Griffen in for a visit yesterday. Griffen reportedly met with Browns’ Executive Vice President Sashi Brown, coach Hue Jackson, assistant head coach/offense Pep Hamilton and Vice President of Player Personnel Andrew Berry yesterday afternoon, but did leave town without a contract. Griffen, who was released by Washington earlier this month has also visited with the New York Jets and has also had at least some mild interest from Denver. Cleveland has also reportedly been involved in talks with San Francisco about a possible deal for Colin Kaepernick. The Browns are reportedly willing to part with a 3rd round pick for Kaepernick, but only if he agrees to a substantial pay cut. What all this means for the Browns possibility of taking a QB with the second pick overall isn’t entirely clear. Griffen or Kaepernick could ultimately be bridge QBs for the Browns, although in recent years most teams drafting QBs early start them right away. Indeed, its hard not to see the Browns not taking a QB with the second pick as they are obviously still checking out the top QB prospects as they were front and center at Cal’s pro day earlier this week where Jared Goff was featured. Stay tuned.
