Browns’ IR QB Griffin, hand ball to vet McCown … Things went from bad to worse for Cleveland today in the wake of Sunday’s embarrassing loss to Philadelphia. And the 29-10 score line against the Browns wasn’t the worst of it for Cleveland, it was that the Eagles were led by rookie QB Carson Wentz, whom the Browns essentially passed on when they traded out of the second pick overall at the 2016 draft. Then today, the Browns announced that QB Robert Griffin had been placed on recallable injured reserve and will be out at least 8 games with a broken coracoid bone in his left shoulder suffered during the loss to the Eagles. Griffin reportedly won’t undergo surgery at this time, but will be re-evaluated in 3-4 weeks and the team did not rule out a procedure down the road which could be season-ending. Meanwhile, next man up for the Browns, who appear to be a leading contender to end up with the #1 pick overall at the 2017 draft, is journeyman veteran Josh McCown who is a competent enough career journeyman but is hardly the long-term answer.
