AKRON (7-6) VS FLORIDA ATLANTIC (10-3) by 11
First off, let’s give the devil his do, so to speak. LANE KIFFIN finally got sick of his old boss NICK SABAN and moved on to FAU just before Alabama went to the Final Four last season. This season he took a 3-9 team to a 10-3 record after an 0-2 start the team got itself in high gear. After their Bye week in mid-October the Owls rolled up on opposing defenses scoring 69, 42, 30, 48, 52, 31 and 41 points in their final 7 games. KIFFIN took leftovers and pulled in a 25-man recruiting class that he used liberally. #16 QB/JASON DRISKEL pilots the Offense which features a lot of mighty-might speedsters who simply out-run most opponents. Soph DEVIN SINGLETARY/RB ran for 1796 yards and 29 TD at 5’9/200. #86 a frosh WR/#86 WILLIE WRIGHT was their other HR weapon at 5’8/155. The Defense is adequate with CB/RAEKWON WILLIAMS #23 being their best pro prospect for the 2018 Draft. TERRY BOWDEN finished his 6th year at AKRON with a splash as he inserted the elusive KATO NELSON #24 at QB late in the season. He’s a legit run/pass option QB. There is an interesting dynamic at work in their leading receiver being a legit pro prospect and their former QB. He’s #5 TRA’VON COLEMAN at 6’1/210, who caught 50 balls this past season and is a solid young athlete. This is basically a home game for FAU and they are not likely to disappoint the home fans. I doubt The Zips can stop their offense and I’d bet the over, even though it’s a high number right now. These two teams look like they will actually peak in the 2018 season, but they should offer a pretty explosive show for you.
