Bombers cruise in key early season CFL tilt

Bombers cruise in key early season CFL battle of unbeatens … As we noted in our pre-game preview, you don’t often get much buzz about early season CFL games, but there was some real interest in tonight’s match-up between Winnipeg and the B.C. Lions, the league’s last-two remaining unbeaten teams this evening in Vancouver. Unfortunately, the two-time defending Grey Cup champion Blue Bombers were buzz-killers as they raced to a 21-0 first quarter lead and never looked back in a 43-22 win over the Lions. And while B.C. QB Nathan Rourke was all the rage before the game, it was Winnipeg’s Zach Collaros who stole the show. The former Cincinnati Bearcat completed 23 of 30 passes for 288 yards and 3 scores to lead the Bombers to the win. Rourke did have his moments as he completed three long TD passes, but was just 16 of 25 on the night including a couple of costly picks.
