Bay area battle for #2 pick in Thursday nighter … In a bit of TV scheduling magic that only a draft guy could love, 1-7 San Francisco hosts 1-6 Oakland in this week’s Thursday night game. The loser of tonight’s game will hold the 2nd pick overall in the in next week’s updated selection order for the 2019 draft. San Francisco currently is #2 with Oakland at #3, behind the Giants who aren’t going anywhere this week as they are on their bye. Indeed, it appears that the road to this year’s #1 pick clearly travels through San Francisco as those same Giants will be there to play the 49ers next week. And if having the lowly 49ers and Raiders play in prime time this week is painful enough for NFL and ESPN execs, next week’s Giants-49ers match-up, which could go a long way to decide who has the first pick next April, is the Monday night game.
