Tide QB Simpson throws at pro day; to visit with Jets … According to local media reports, there were ‘multiple’ NFL GMs and head coaches at today’s pro day at Alabama, although so far the only one we’ve actually been able to identify is Chicago GM Ryan Poles. And as usually happens with these things, Tide QB Ty Simpson, the consensus #2 passer in this year’s draft class behind Fernando Mendoza, went thru a scripted passing session which by all accounts was solid. Here’s some video of some of the highlights. Its interesting that while the Jets had reps at the Tide pro day, the primary contingent was up in Columbus at the Ohio State workout. However, the Jets will hold a private workout with Simpson on Friday. Needless to say, the Jets aren’t going to use the 2nd pick on Simpson, but he could very well be in play with the 16th pick which the Jets acquired from Indianapolis in the trade for CB Sauce Gardner.
